Compassionate, Whole-Person Care

With a deep respect for each person’s unique path, my aim is to provide care that’s compassionate, empowering, and truly personal.

Because everything in the body is connected, I look beyond the area of pain to understand the patterns that may be contributing, helping create lasting change, not just short-term relief. This approach supports recovery, restores balance, and enhances overall wellbeing.

My focus is always on working with you: listening, understanding, and helping you build confidence as you move towards your goals.

Whether you’re supporting your child’s development, recovering from an injury, managing persistent pain, or simply ready to feel like yourself again, I’m here to guide your journey.

From infancy to adulthood and beyond, InnerBalance Physiotherapy offers personalised care to help you move more freely, feel stronger, and thrive at every stage of life.

For me, recovery is just the beginning. I want everyone I work with to feel supported and confident to keep improving long after they leave the clinic.

By combining hands-on treatment, movement-based therapy, and a whole-person perspective, I aim to help you restore balance, rediscover ease, and create lasting wellness.

Recover. Empower. Flourish.

What We Treat

Every person’s story is unique, and so is every body. My approach is about understanding the whole picture: how your body moves, adapts, and responds, rather than just focusing on one area of pain.

Whether discomfort has developed gradually or followed an injury, surgery, or period of stress, the aim is to understand why symptoms have appeared and how best to support recovery.

Karen's knowledge and treatments are outstanding. I first went to her about 10 years ago. I always recommend her to friend's and family. My father in law, after seeing Karen, was pain free for the first time in 50 years and she has helped me immeasurably. She is so much more than a straight forward physiotherapist. She has always worked out what is the source of problems rather than just treating the area where there is pain. We are SO LUCKY to have someone with so much experience in Oban.

Karen at inner balance is a fantastic physio. She is friendly and approachable and most importantly excellent at identifying and fixing issues that cause pain and reduce mobility. Highly recommend.

Karen is a fantastic physiotherapist. She has been incredibly helpful in supporting my recovery after I injured my back, as well as helping me with my postpartum recovery following a C-section. I would highly recommend her!

Have been to Karen at innerbalace for myself ,also have taken my 14 year old daughter. She has years of experience with adults as well as children, this I found so helpful! It was so easy to book an appointment and pay! No hassle! Karen is so easy to talk too and explains everything that she is doing and what is happening to your body! I have found this an excellent physio service for oban ,so glad she is here! Definitely feeling better since I have attended my sessions with Karen. Well worth booking!!

After seeing multiple different therapists over the years, Karen is the only person who has really got down to the root cause for me. She has made a huge difference to me and my quality of life. I honestly don't know where I would be without her. Would recommend her to everyone.

Karen is an exceptional physio, her skills are unparalleled. Her treatment has increased my mobility greatly following an accident, and I no longer need to take painkillers. We are so lucky to have her.

Towards the end of last year I was in extreme pain, hardly able to walk or even stand up straight and many household tasks had become almost impossible. In January I heard about Karen and immediately booked an appointment.  Our first session resulted in an immediate improvement which continued over coming weeks. After 3/4 appointments my pain had lessened significantly. Since then, with Karen's ongoing support, I've continued to work towards improving the strength in my hips  and legs. My dependence on a walking stick is greatly reduced and my general mobility is much improved. I would thoroughly recommend Karen to you. She is  highly professional and thorough in her approach. She inspires confidence that if you follow her  guidance  and put in the effort you can get better. I'm proof of that! I'm so glad to have found her.

I don't believe in magic but this is pretty close. Karen has helped massively to keep me running free. Her approach of looking at the body as a whole and her ability to diagnose and address the root cause of a problem is amazing. The word physio does not do her justice. Very fortunate to have this level of expertise on our doorstep. She is very caring and supportive. The best around, couldn't recommend enough.

I had an old hip injury from a bike accident that I thought was healed.. during my first trimester of pregnancy and the relaxin hormones that came with it, the injury came back to haunt me and I was unable to run and do the activities I had previously loved. One visit to Karen and I was back to ParkRun with my friends 2 days later! She is very friendly, professional and a lovely environment to be around. Thank you so so much!
Team

Meet Karen

I qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2003. Since then I have built extensive experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, including over 2 decades working within the NHS with both adults and children.

Ongoing learning has always been an important part of my professional life. I’ve completed extensive postgraduate training and continue to build on my skills and understanding. Over many years, I’ve trained across the Barral Institute’s visceral, neural, vascular and articular curricula, progressing through advanced and specialised courses. I now enjoy working as a teaching assistant with the Institute, sharing my love of this work: its depth of anatomy, precision and attention to detail.
